Annunciation’s Core Values

Worship, particularly celebration of the Eucharist, is central.
Faithful to scripture.
Sense of community is vital.
Committed to outreach and community involvement.
Providing a safe place to explore the Christian faith.
Focused on building a foundation for bringing the next generation into                      relationship   with Christ through youth directed programming.
Creating an environment that challenges individuals to dig deeper in their faith
and understanding of God.
Intentionally fostering and embracing diversity.
The invitation to transformation in Christ is for all.
Our sole agenda is the Gospel.
We are saved and transformed by grace in Jesus Christ.

Core Problems Annunciation Can Address

Young people are seeking meaning and truth, a safe place to play,
a community of  other youths, guidance, and role models – especially fathers.
Adults in this community are seeking a safe place to find
meaning in their lives and relationship with God.
Many do not love themselves, their neighbors, or God.
Many baptized Christians do not have an active faith;
often times they have been wounded in or by the Church.
Congregants and other volunteers lack training for ministry
and leadership within the Church.
Basic human services are lacking for the poor of this community.
Hispanic immigrants are flooding into Greater New Orleans,
unable to access many essential services.  If they are not engaged and embraced,
they will become yet  another underclass.

Core Strategies to Accomplish our Mission

Active, creative community outreach; filling voids where needs are going unmet.
Willingness to think outside of the box.
Providing a first rate youth ministry program.
Providing a safe context for exploring the Christian faith.
Creating new facilities and space to promote worship, ministry and service.
Expanding our commitment to global outreach and mission.
Fostering awareness that we are saved and transformed by grace in Jesus Christ.

Vision for Annunciation

The Annunciation campus will be a source of joy and pride for the community,                  serving as the heart of  Broadmoor, where people from all walks of life
can feel comfortable, valued and  connected to a caring community.
Annunciation will have ample facilities and well trained personnel to
grow and advance a first rate ministry to children and young people.
People will find a welcoming, Spirit-filled house of prayer for all.
There will be relevant small groups, stimulating Bible study
and many opportunities for service.
We will intentionally engage and take an interest in all who walk through our doors.
We will be a valued asset and magnet for the local community, influencing positive             changes. Our community will be unified, safe and nurturing.
Racial, economic and ethnic divisions will be healed.
Each member of the congregation will be encouraged and challenged to identify                their spiritual gifts and provided opportunities for living out their baptismal covenant.          Ministries will be more lay directed.
Recovery ministries and programs serving unmet needs –
particularly within the African American and immigrant Hispanic Communities --
will continue to grow and evolve with a changing landscape.
Children and young people will learn to love God, themselves and their neighbors.             They will discover how to share their faith with others
and be shaped for Christian  leadership.
A new standard for excellence in ministry and outreach will be set for the American           expression of Anglicanism and beyond, providing a powerful example of God’s                transforming love and making the Gospel relevant in  today’s world.
